What I Learned In 2021

2021 has been a funny old year, hasn’t it? It didn’t go to plan for many of us whether it’s rescheduling events and plans, classes moving online and numerous COVID tests, or being unable to see family members.

  1. Mental health is always important, so take care of yourself.

  2. You really miss going to concerts and just enjoying the moment of oblivion.

  3. What you think about yourself matters more than what other people think of you.

  4. If you don’t put yourself out there, when will you?

  5. Your writing matters. Your creativity matters.

  6. Self-care isn’t selfish. It is a priority, not a privilege

  7. You don’t need to make New Year's resolutions, let’s face it we don’t stick to them.

  8. Allow yourself to blossom and nurture yourself

  9. You are more resilient than you give yourself credit for.

  10. You can be both optimistic and realistic

  11. You are always learning, the learning never stops

  12. There are some things you just can not change.

  13. Always better yourself

  14. You don’t need permission to be you

  15. Learning to love yourself comes with time and that is ok

  16. Everyone has a different timestamp, we don’t need to rush on doing everything.

  17. Life is precious

  18. You are more than good enough.

  19. You can find joy in the simple things

  20. Be you, unapologetically.

  21. Always choose yourself.

  22. Give yourself permission to be ‘selfish’

  23. Always stand up for what you believe in

  24. It is ok not to be positive all the time

  25. You don’t have to tolerate situations that make you unhappy

  26. Prioritize having a ‘blank space’ in your calendar, we all need to take time to ourselves from time to time.

  27. You can enjoy being alone and still feel lonely.

  28. If it brings you joy, do it anyway

  29. And if it scares you, take the risk.

  30. Celebrate the little wins because they matter just as much as the biggest ones.

What have you learned in 2021? And what are you taking into 2022? I hope the new year is kinder to us all and look after yourselves.

Love, Simone

xoxo
