Important Lessons Learned From Blogging

I've been blogging for about 3 years now and i love it. It's something I consider a hobby and something that can open doors. While good bloggers can make blogging look easy, the reality is that showing up at your computer on a regular basis with fresh ideas is hard work, you lack motivation and of course life gets in the way. The BeautifulxImperfections Journal is my little creative heaven, it's my little baby (I'm aware of how cheesy it may sound) i'm proud of my blog, I'm proud of myself for taking the leap and creating it.

1. Be authentic. With so many blogs out there, it’s easy to fall in with everyone else. There's always going to be someone who is stronger in certain areas of blogging such as photography, HTML editing etc Try things out, but don’t worry if something that worked great for another blogger doesn’t work for you. You do you. Everyone is different, and different strategies will work for different people. You're a human being after all. Don’t be afraid to be authentic and use your voice. Never apologise for who you are. Own it. In the end your blog can be about anything but it is a personal blog so let your voice, your point of view and your personality shine through.

2. Kill 'em with kindness. (Thank you Selena) Be kind always, there is a human being behind that screen.

3. You don't need to have a set niche, blogging is about sharing experiences, stories and creating art in any shape or form so if you want to blog about your pets, TV shows with advice and ramblings then go ahead.

4. It's okay to be vulnerable and honest - you're never going through anything alone.

5. Keep the fun in blogging. Don’t take yourself too seriously. Nothing is perfect in life but you can embrace the imperfections. Blogging has taught me to laugh a whole lot more at the craziness of  life and just have fun. Blogging doesn't need to be perfect.

6. Always be open to learning and growing. Blogging is a whole lot of experimenting. It is a whole lot of finding out what works and what doesn’t. In addition to, it’s a whole of finding out what works and what doesn’t work for you and your blog.

7. Keep sharing your story and experiences. The original idea was to use my blog as a platform to write about things I love and things I had gone through good and bad to help others. That idea is still true but of course I added other elements like fandoms and life. My blog name has a story and that's something i wanted to include

8. Sometimes all you need is a fresh perspective.

9. Remember to keep your eyes in your own lane, you don't need to compare yourself to others. We're all different, we all tell a different story, we all have a unique perspective.

10. It's ok to take a break from blogging. My blog brings me joy, it's my creative outlet. But there are sometimes days and sometimes weeks where I don’t and wont want to blog and that is ok. It doesn’t mean that I’ve lost my passion, it doesn’t mean that i'm bored of blogging. It just means that I need a break.

11. Talk about what you want to talk about. It's your blog after all, so blog for yourself rather than blog for other people. Talk about your latest obsession, your life,  mental health - whatever it is, just talk about it. There is so much that falls into life and I’m going to talk about it depending on how it relates to my life. We relate to bloggers in some way or another

12.  As a blogger, being completely proud of what you've written is one of the best feelings in the world and the fact that you inspired someone is even better.

13. Surround yourself with mantras + motivation for when you start to doubt yourself. Cos you WILL doubt yourself at some point or another. But that doesn’t mean that the doubts are true. Surround yourself with people who believe in you and start believing everything out there that tells you that you’re enough and capable. Don't be so harsh on yourself or your blog.

14. Stick up for yourself. You are your own best advocate, always.

15. Some things don't need to be shared with social media. Keep some little moments for yourself. You don't owe anyone an explanation. Bare in mind we all share only the good and happy parts when it comes to social media, you never know the full story - only that persons highlight reel.

What lessons have you learnt from blogging. What do you love about blogging?
