Ways To Celebrate Self Love On Valentines Day
Some people love Valentines Day, other people not so much. Valentines Day is a perfect day just like any other to celebrate self love. It’s such a crucial part of having a happy, fulfilling life, and it’s an act most of us don’t work at nearly enough. From showing more compassion and not being so hard on yourself, to taking the time to do something for yourself just because it makes you happy, self-love keeps us going and brings out our best selves.
We often love on others, but somehow that care falls short when it comes to ourselves. The funny thing is…we can give so much more to the people we care about if we first love and accept ourselves. So why don't we singleton's call V-Day - Me Day. LETS CELEBRATE BEING SINGLE
Love yourself first and everything else falls into line. You really have to love yourself to get anything done in this world. –Lucille Ball
Change something little - Get dressed up to go to class or run errands or try a different makeup look. Maybe you can wear a piece of clothing in your wardrobe that makes you feel extra confident! Style your hair differently, go all out with your favourite outfit and makeup look.
Practice acceptance - You are perfectly imperfect. Learning to accept yourself for who you are is the most important step to self-love. Stop comparing yourself to others and learn to embrace the person you are. You have beautiful qualities, both physical and emotional, that draw people to you. You don't need to look or talk or act like anyone else. We all offer the world something different. That's what makes it so beautiful.
Create a positive mantra - We all have a ongoing internal script that we sometimes aren’t even aware of. Become mindful of your inner voice and guide it to choose loving messages whenever the negativity starts to creep in. Some empowering mantras are: “I love and accept myself always” or “I am wonderfully and beautifully made”
Pamper yourself - Nothing says 'I Love You' like a little spa day in the comfort of you own home. Run yourself a bath with your favourite bath bombs, light some scented candles and relax with a face mask, put on your favourite movie or binge watch a TV series you've been loving. It’s important to give yourself a little TLC every now and then.
Write yourself a love note - Who else knows you better? Spend some time writing a sweet letter to your past self. Be sure to tell the old you how proud you are of the new you! Make some time to write down all of the things that you admire about yourself.
Make a gratitude list - Grab a notebook and write down every single thing you feel grateful for. Whether it's big or small, remembering how good life is can be great for your soul.
Spoil yourself - Always remember to indulge in things that create passion and excitement in your life. These are the things that fuel you to consistently function at your best and flood you with good energy. Whether it is a great book or a walk in nature, be sure to set this valuable time aside for yourself. Never underestimate the power and value in nurturing the relationship that you have with yourself. Self love breeds confidence, success and joy within you.
Take yourself out on a date - Get dressed up and take yourself out on an outing for one. You get to choose the venue, the vibe and the details so indulge in an activity that is good for your soul and will bring you the highest amount of joy. Why not treat yourself to a cinema date and munch on the yummy popcorn.
Listen to the music you like (loudly) - If you don’t feel like going out, throw a little dance party for yourself. Don’t be afraid to do any silly move you want, just be confident. Be yourself and have fun! The only person who can judge you is you.
Put together a little self love kit - You can add a mixed CD, your favourite perfume, some magazines, body lotion, bath bombs, a jar filled with self love affirmations, makeup, face mask, oils, chocolate etc. It's not only perfect for Valentines Day but also on the days where you need some me time
Share the love - Why not spend some time with the most important people in your life: family, friends and pets sharing all the love & spend quality time with them. Maybe bake some tasty treats, by them some flowers (and yourself too) and even having a much needed family movie/TV night. Binge the night away with family and pet cuddles
Self Love is individual - We are all individuals and being unique is what makes us beautiful. Focusing on yourself, what is positive in your life and your own abilities cannot only be empowering but it also enables you to forget about the comparisons. Focus on what makes you happy. Being happy with who you are is the first sign that you are comfortable in your own skin and love who you are.
However you spend Valentines Day, make you sure you take the time for yourself because this romantic holiday is about love and most importantly we should love ourselves even on the bad days. I hope today you're good to yourself, like you should be every day. You deserve to shower yourself in self-love. Being single on Valentines Day does have its perks, you're saving money, have the food and sweets to yourself and you can just sit & cry at chick flicks! (That's probably just me then)
