Chick Flicks For A Bad Day

I always found watching something funny like a good old chick flick does the trick of lifting my mood, and also because I'm a sucker for a love story with a happy ending and something that tugs on my heart strings along side. I've always been a sucker for a happy ending ever since i was young (that's everyone too right?) So I've put together a list and reasons why these chick flicks are perfect for a bad day, rainy day or a lazy day.

A Cinderella Story: This was one of my favourites growing up, i watched it constantly. Everyone loves a Cinderella story, especially when Cinderella is played by Hilary Duff and her Prince Charming is dreamboat Chad Michael Murray. And once you get past the whole fairytale/Cinderella thing. A Cinderella Story is about a teenage girl figuring out how to embrace who she really is, no matter what anyone thinks. Also this a two squeals starring Lucy Hale and Selena Gomez that are pretty good too.

Dirty Dancing: From spending summer at a lush resort to learning how to dance from the gorgeous rebellious dance instructor (and falling in love along the way). I wish i could have a summer like Baby. But this movie isn't just a love story, it's also about a girl standing up for herself and finding her voice even if it does mean going against what the people she loves want for her. That moment when Johnny Castle walks up to Baby and grabs her for the final, saying "Nobody puts baby in the corner" pretty much goes down in chick flick history.

Bridget Jones's Diary: This is the ultimate British chick flick with the embarrassing moments and happy endings. Bridget is relatable and awkward, Bridget vocalises what most women are thinking. We can relate to her blunders and successes. There is a bit of Bridget in all of us whether we admit it or not.
If you love this then you will love Bridget Jones's Baby. Bridget learns that she deserves someone that likes her for who she is and all the craziness that comes with her instead of expecting some kind of catch, things can be on her terms. She accepts herself. She has that moment in the snow with the dashing Mark Darcy that we all want. I'd choose Mark Darcy any day. Bridget Jones's Diary: The Edge Of Reason is worth watching too.

What If?: Daniel Radcliffe may not be your typical male lead in a chick flick but he fits with this one so well and the movie as a whole is super cute. It basically investigates the issue of falling in love with your best friend and your find yourself rooting for Wallace and Chantry. It's quirky and it's witty which makes it the perfect chick flick.

The Lucky One: Zac Efron is pretty much grown up in this romantic chick flick, where fate brings him to the woman who kept him going during his time in the war. This movie is romantic and irresistible. The plot is an interesting twist on a love story, which makes it different than most romantic movies.

Love Rosie: So it’s a little predictable but it doesn’t sugar coat relationships and it actually makes London look full of warmth. It may have a predictable end like every chick flick but it doesn't stop you from squealing for joy. Since i've seen this i've had a girl crush on Lily Collins. I loved the story, the unique way it was told through letters and emails, and I recommend it to anyone who is a hopeless romantic like myself.

Breakfast At Tiffany's: If you haven't seen it, this classic should be on your chick flick watch list. Audrey Hepburn is a goddess, also hearing Audrey singing Moon River gives you goose pimples. This film is perfect for every girlie girl, you'll die over her little black dress and pearls, standing outside the window at Tiffany's with a coffee and doughnut in hand. Add in a quirky storyline involving a handsome neighbour and you are hooked

What chick flicks do you watch to pick yourself up?
